Morgan Silver Dollar

Morgan Silver Dollar
The Morgan Silver $ was a US dollar coin minted from 1878 to 1904 and then again in 1921. The coins contain 90% silver and 10% copper and bear a picture of Liberty on the obverse and an eagle clasping arrows and olive branch on the reverse. The value of the coins currently is dependent on the condition and rarity. For silver dollars that are well circulated, they trade closely to the spot price of silver on a per ounce basis, with a calculation required since they do not contain one full troy ounce of silver. Coins in better than circulated condition are traded on their collector value and can vary widely. Low mintages and mint marks can also contribute to substantial premiums.
