$20 Gold – Liberty
The Unites States 20 dollar gold piece was minted with the Liberty Head design from 1849 to 1907. The coin’s composition is 90% gold and 10% copper with an actual gold weight of .9675 troy ounces. The obverse is Liberty’s coroneted head facing left and encircled by 13 stars and the reverse shows an eagle crest. The condition and rarity of these coins determine their value in the collector market. Coins in very poor condition generally are bought and sold for their gold content.
